Defence of the existing paradigm is not warranted

Unlaw and disorder

Pursued with playground invective

And invocations of national crises;

Conjuring demagoguery

Scapegoating and gaslighting

Toy leadership is wearing a suit;

On the stairway used by the camera crews

Quotidian savagery is met with a shrug by the tin pot and tin eared

And stupefaction by the rest of us.

We are totally bewildered.

And that’s just the way they want it.

They’re digging under the walls

Greasing the guard rails

Picking at the safety weave.

This is how it always starts.
